Logan Lerman: An Inspirer For Young Teens

Image

Within the film industry, there are many who desire the money but not the enjoyment of acting and the impact it can have on others.  But, then there are a few who hope to use their fame to leave a mark on the world.  Amongst these few, is Logan Lerman, a teen actor wanting to change the world.  Because of this, Logan Lerman is not just an actor he is an inspirer.

Lerman was born in Beverly Hills, California on January 12, 1992 to Lisa (his manager) and Larry Lerman (entrepreneur). He is the youngest in his family, with a brother Lucas and sister Lindsey (1).  At a young age, Lerman had a passion for movies, and appeared in his first commercial in 1998.  His first film debut was in 2000’s The Patriot, playing one of the sons to Mel Gibson’s character.  His most recent work was portraying D’Artagnon in the 3D adaptation of The Three Musketeers (2).  Though acting was a big part of his young adult life, Logan still wants to pursue an education.  He graduated from Beverly Hills High School and hopes to study creative writing at New York University once he settles down (3).

In terms of chosen material, actor Logan Lerman scored points at an early age for attempting some of the most difficult parts imaginable for a preteenager.  These roles include the son of a heroin addict to the portrayal of a child who experienced cruel injustice like being strangled, beaten and sexually abused.  After these emotionally challenging debuts, Lerman dropped down a few notches as far as the intensity of the material he pursued to focus more on a particular cause. Lerman wanted to be able to inspire his audience with his acting and though talented, he wished for a more specific cause that he could put more of his time and effort into doing to help others.  His wishes soon came true because Logan Lerman soon realized that this cause would be the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

In 2010, Lerman appeared in “Change the Odds”, a public service announcement video for the Stand Up To Cancer charity.  It was an initiative to raising funds for innovative cancer research and puts cancer into perspective as a disease everyone must stand up to.  Lerman made a statement to say why this campaign was not only important for him but for the world: “It is important for young people to be aware of the scope of the problem both for their own future and for their loved ones.  It is never too soon to take a stand against these devastating and epidemic diseases (…) It makes me so proud to be a part of the Stand Up To Cancer movement.” (4)  Ever since joining this campaign, Logan has been a busy bee!  He has travelled all over the globe speaking to the public, participating in world wide telethons, and even taking the time to visit cancer patients at hospitals and donating both his time and money towards the cause.

Joining the Stand Up To Cancer campaign was a pivotal moment in his career.  It opened doors to new possibilities and opportunities for him.  Being apart of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign proves that he is not only a talented actor but someone that people his age can look up to and say “I can make a difference”.   To this day, Logan continues to work for the cancer campaign and hopes that others may follow in his footsteps.  He is not perceived as just a youth actor anymore, but also an inspirer.

Small, Fuzzy, and Misunderstood.

Clyde.

What is the first thought that comes to mind when someone brings up a rodent? How about if the word “ferret” manages to wiggle its way into a conversation? If you’re first reaction is “Ew, rodent!”, you are not alone. Many people are ignorant to the true nature of ferrets or their general existence, most people don’t know how great they are as pets, how quirky they are, and how easy to take care of they are. Because of their resemblance to rodents many people will never take the time to learn these things.

When it comes to being a pet, ferrets are the best there is. They are better than dogs for a couple of reasons. The first being that they don’t bark. Other people can come over and they don’t feel the need to bark loudly or feel the need to be obnoxiously in everyones’ face. They don’t need to go for walks, they can if you want to on warm days, as they can’t go out in the cold or in the extreme heat. If you don’t want to leave your house one day you don’t need to, they don’t need to go outside, you can stay inside all day. They also can’t take up a large space on any furniture or beds. They are also better than cats, as they are not as mood swingy. They can also be litter trained, but you can get special pellet litter so it doesn’t smell like litter. They are smaller and don’t need as much attention, as they are quite happy just to run around and play with what they can find. They don’t need all the care that cats and dogs do, as long as you are willing to get down on the floor sometimes and play with them.

Ferrets are very quirky and have tons of personality. Some of them will make noises when they get really excited and they do a little dance called a “weasel war dance”. They are all unique and have different quirks. For example, Clyde, my ferret, likes to steal crusts, shoes, plungers, and a few other things that are a lot bigger than him. He loves blueberries, porridge, and Captain Crunch, but really doesn’t like strawberries or most types of pepperoni. He likes to give kisses, his favourite place to sleep is in any drawer, playing in and with plastic bags, and if he feels like it he loves to cuddle up and sleep on my lap or stomach.

All in all, ferrets are pretty easy going animals. They are so far from being rodents, they separate at class under the scientific classifications. Where rodents are “Rodentia”, ferrets are “Carnivora” and are more closes related to weasels. They are not at all viscous, are fun loving and easy to fall in love with. They make amazing pets and get along with any other animal in the house, as they just want to play. Ferrets are quite small, they can be anywhere from 17 inches and can get up to 25 inches in length when full grown. They do have a cage, but really love to run around and explore. So if you’re looking for an easy and fun loving animal, ferrets are the perfect animal for you.

Westdale Rules

Opening scene filmed in the same way as the opening for Zombieland:
WESTDALE MID-DAY. CAMERA IS FOCUSED ON FLAG FLYING OUTSIDE.
“O CANADA” IS PLAYING IN BACKGROUND.
Narrator: Oh, Canada, I wish I
could tell you that this was still
Westdale,
CAMERA DRAWS BACK TO SHOW FRONT ENTRANCE OF SCHOOL, THEN
MOVES TOWARDS THE DOOR.
but I’ve come to realize you can’t
have a school without rules
CAMERA GOES SHAKY AS IF HAND-HELD IN FIRST PERSON POV, AS IF
CAMERA IS THE AUDIENCE AS A PERSON, MOVES TOWARDS THE DOOR
OF SCHOOL AND GOES INSIDE, SMOKE FILLS THE HALL,WALLS ARE
FULL OF GRAFFITI, GARBAGE STREWN ON FLOOR, KIDS MILLING
AROUND, SMOKING, WEARING CHAINS, GLARING AT CAMERA AS IT
MOVES DOWN HALLWAY, A COUPLE IS NECKING IN THE CORNER,
ANOTHER IS ARGUING. THIS IS A PIVOTAL SCENE SHOWING WHAT THE
SCHOOL WOULD LOOK LIKE IF THERE WERE NO RULES.
and there are no rules at Westdale.
SOMEONE RUSHES PAST AND OUT THE DOOR BEHIND CAMERA. SOMEONE
ELSE COMES SCREAMING DOWN THE HALL IN HOT PURSUIT.
No my friends this is now the end
of days – my days – teenage style.
CAMERA CONTINUES DOWN HALL, NARRATOR OPENS A STAIRWELL DOOR
– IT IS PUSHED VIOLENTLY BACK AS A BIG MALE STUDENT IS
BLOCKING ENTRANCE, WHILE HIS FRIENDS BEHIND HIM ROUGH UP
ANOTHER STUDENT.
It’s amazing how quickly things can
go from bad to total apocalypse.
CONTINUE DOWN HALL, A STRETCHER GOES PAST WITH A BRUISED
FEMALE MOANING ON IT. A COP HURRIES PAST AND CONTINUES DOWN
THE OTHER HALLWAY. ANOTHER COP WITH A STUDENT IN HANDCUFFS
COMES BY
And why did this happen? Well, it
all started out innocently enough –
with attendance. Students wanted to
be able to sign themselves out of
class and write their own excuses.
Man Oh man, did that open up a
whole new can of worms.
CAMERA SHOWS A COUPLE OF ANGRY, TOUGH LOOKING BOYS COMING
TOWARDS OUR NARRATOR AS HE MOVES DOWN THE SCHOOL HALLWAY
THE TOUGH GUYS BEGINS TO PICK UP SPEED AND CHASE OUR
NARRATOR DOWN THE HALL AROUND THE CORNER AND UP THE STAIRS.
OUR NARRATOR SPRINTS WITH NO PROBLEM UP THE STAIRS, BUT THE
ASSAILANTS GET WINDED AND STOP TO CATCH THEIR BREATH.

OUR NARRATOR GOES OUT OF THE STAIRWELL AND INTO THE 3RD
FLOOR HALLWAY. WALKS DOWN THE HALL, PASSING KIDS ALONG THE
WAY, SOME WALKING CONFIDENTLY WITH INAPPROPRIATE SLOGANS –
“I LOVE BEER” OR I HATE YOU ON THEIR SHIRTS, DODGES A
SKATEBOARDER, SOME COWER FURTIVELY PAST AND DUCK INTO A
CLASSROOM, A COUPLE IS NECKING IN THE CORNER.
When you don’t have to go to class,
why bother? Imagine the fun you can
have just hanging with your
friends.
SHOT OF NARRATOR HANDING OVER HIS LUNCH AND MONEY TO A
COUPLE OF THUGS IN THE HALL. THEY ARE CARRYING CHAINS AND
HAVE A BOTTLE OF BEER IN THEIR BACK POCKET. ONE IS
DISTRACTED BY USING A LASER POINTER TO HARASS A GIRL ACROSS
THE HALL. NARRATOR SPIES THE THUGS THAT WERE CHASING HIM
DASHES INTO THE ELEVATOR AS IT OPENS FOR A CARETAKER HE
BOUNCES OFF THE BACK WALL OF THE ELEVATOR. CARETAKER LOOKS
TIRED AND ANXIOUS, HE CARRIES A BASEBALL BAT ON HIS
TROLLEY. HE WANTS TO KICK OUT THE NARRATOR, BUT THE DOORS
CLOSE JUST AS THE THUGS SLAM INTO THE DOOR.
CARETAKER AND NARRATOR SIZE ONE ANOTHER UP. SINCE OUR
NARRATOR LOOKS LIKE A “LOSER” IN THIS NEW PARADIGM, THE
CARETAKER BECOMES RELAXED. THE ELEVATOR MOVES UP THE FLOORS.
Caretaker: Looks like you could use
a hand up.
Narrator: yah, can’t remember the
last time I was able to eat my own
lunch. What is wrong with these
people?
Caretaker: It all starts with
respect.
They show respect for the school by
not throwing garbage around, in
fact, picking it up! by not
tagging, by not breaking windows,
this means that you give a damn
about your school and are proud to
be a Warrior
SHOTS OF STUDENTS PICKING UP GARBAGE, PUTTING THEIR GARBAGE
